Julia Decker
Director of Lacrosse

Julia comes to Legacy and Vortex after having spent the last 12 years coaching collegiate lacrosse, making stops at institutions across all three NCAA Divisions I, II, and III. She played lacrosse for SUNY Brockport and Penn Yan Academy where she was a 2008 ECAC Champion and a 2004 New York State Champion, respectively. Decker was an all-conference attacker in college and graduated Brockport in the top 3 in program history in both goals and points. Decker holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Physical Education and a Master’s of Science in Athletic Administration, both from Brockport.

Kayla Hogan

Kayla brings a wealth of experience from the collegiate ranks as both a standout student-athlete and an impressive coaching resume. Most recently, Hogan served as an assistant coach at Division III Ithaca College where she helped lead them to back to back NCAA appearances. Prior to Ithaca, Hogan was at Division I Winthrop University where the Eagles made it to the Big South championship each season. Before heading to Winthrop she was the assistant coach at Queens University of Charlotte. While at Queens the squad made the NCAA tournament and advanced to the elite eight for the first time in program history.  Hogan earned her under-graduate degree from Mercyhurst University in 2013 as a standout student-athlete on Mercyhurst's women's lacrosse team. She accumulated 191 points over her collegiate career from 2009-2013 while double majoring in early childhood education and special education. She also earned her master's degree from Bloomsburg in higher education with a focus on student affairs. Kayla moved to Arizona with her husband Jordan who coaches for the Cardinals and they have one daughter Mara.


Dan Hill

Dan co-founded Vortex Elite Girls Lacrosse Club in 2014. With his passion for the game, Dan has spearheaded the growth of Vortex Elite from a handful of girls to an elite team helping girls attain their goals of playing at the highest level. In addition to Vortex Elite, Dan helped to establish the Arizona Girls Youth Lacrosse league and served as it’s inaugural board President, served on the board of the Arizona Girls Lacrosse High School league, and was the head coach for the Chandler Huskies High School team. A graduate of Arizona State University and current resident of Chandler with wife Leigh and a teenage daughter. Dan is looking forward to establishing Legacy Sports USA, LLC as a world class destination for Girls Lacrosse and helping to develop a premier program for our players.


David Wieneke

Coaching Experience

Started coaching 2012 - Huskies High School Head Coach, Vortex Elite High ScDesert Vista Thunder, State Champion Pinnacle Girls Lacrosse Club, Corona Aztecs, and Bill Pilat's Goalie School.

Mechanical Engineering Arizona State University, currently works for Able Aerospace Engineering.
